Eosin Yellow, a type of heterocyclic dye consisting of bromine atoms, finds its applications in various industries, such as dyeing, printing, leather industry, and fluorescent pigment production. This study investigated the process of photocatalytic degradation of eosin yellowish dye in water solutions using titanium dioxide as a catalyst, as well as its degradation in the absence of semiconductors. The effect of specific factors including initial concentration of eosin yellowish dye and photo catalyst (TiO2), pH levels, and temperature on this degradation process was also tested. The results showed that increasing the concentration of TiO2 improved the above dye degradation. Moreover, it is found that shifting the pH from acidic to alkaline conditions enhanced dye degradation. This study also determined the order of eosin yellowish dye using integral rate laws and established that the degradation of the dye follows a first-order reaction at 517 nm

In this study, an alternative inexpensive and eco-friendly Aubergine (Eggplant)-based biosorbents were synthesized for removing Cu2+, Ni2+, and Co2+ heavy metal ions from the aquatic region. Moreover, how the physical properties and water treatment performance were affected by their corn starch and oil contents were investigated. Their extraction capacity was evaluated by performing Flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS). ASTM D 792 standard was complied with to calculate biosorbent density. Indeed, the untreated eggplant stalk-based biosorbent adsorbed 5.36 mg of Co2+ ions and 4.99 mg of Ni2+ ions, and 4.84 mg of Cu2+ ions from 25 mL of initial solution that contained 7.00 ppm of each ion for 30 minutes, at room temperature with 175 rpm agitation speed by Eggplant-based biosorbents.

In this study, a new multi-walled carbon nanotube(MWCNT) based hybrid material was obtained and used as adsorbent for the removal of Cu(II) and Co(II) from aqueous solutions. In the synthesis, firstly, the surface of MWCNT was modified via Hummer method to give oxidized MWCNT-O. In the following step, the oxidized MWCNT was treated with 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APTES) to give a silanized form of MWCNT having free amine end groups. Finally, the silanized MWCNT was reacted with 3, 5-dichlorosalicylaldehyde to give the hybrid material. The new hybrid material was characterized by analytical and spectroscopic methods (FT-IR, UV-Vis., TGA, Raman Spectra, SEM, TEM, EDX and XRD studies). The hybrid material was used as adsorbent for the removal of Cu(II) and Co(II) ions from aqueous solutions. The effects of adsorption parameters such as pH, contact time, temperature, and initial concentrations on adsorption behaviors were investigated.

The photocatalytic degradation of Toluidine Blue dye (TB) in aqueous solution was investigated under UV light in the presence of magnesium oxide (MgO) as a photocatalyst at different operating parameters. The operating conditions were photocatalyst dose, initial dye concentration and the pH of the solution. Increasing of photocatalyst dose from 10 to 70 mg enhanced the degradation rate of TB dye. However, the increasing of TB dye concentration from 2 to 8 mg/L negatively affected the degradation rate. It was found that the percent of dye removal reached the maximum value at high acidic medium. In dark condition, 15 % of dye was adsorbed by MgO. Furthermore, the kinetics involved in the degradation of TB dye was examined and the degradation was found to follow pseudo first order kinetic model.
