This research, titled "Types of Directive Acts in Religious Discourse," focuses on speech acts in
the Kurdish language. Directive acts have been analyzed in a Friday religious sermon. For this
study, a Friday sermon by Mullah Harman Besifki was selected. Using a descriptive approach,
types of directive acts within the sermon were identified. Furthermore, a statistical method was
employed to determine the percentage of each type. The aim of this research is to highlight the
influence of religious discourse in guiding the audience and to identify the types of directives
that have a greater impact and change the listener's direction. Our specific choice of a beloved
Mullah among the people confirms that his religious discourse has a positive impact in guiding
the public. During the analysis of the selected sermon, we reached several conclusions, among
them that the preacher used (158) speech acts. The highest percentage was for "prohibitive"
directive acts. This reflects the influence of Islam, which "forbids evil" and thus improves the
direction of Muslims through prohibitions.
