The interest of peoples and nations of all kinds in medical science came because of its close relationship to human health. The kings before Islam were interested in the science of medicine, and many of them had a good number of doctors, either to treat them personally or to treat people within their countries. When Islam came, Muslims became very interested in the science of medicine as a result of the Islamic principles and the interest of the caliphs and princes in them. They translated many Greek works into the Arabic language and benefited from them and added other matters to those works. In fact, on many occasions, they corrected some of the errors they had made in their works. This knowledge reached the building of institutions related to it, such as medical schools and bimaristans, such as the Bimaristan Al-Addi, which was built in the year (371 AH / 982 AD) by Adud al-Dawla. The Kurdish princes also took an interest in medical science by building schools and bimaristans in their country. The most prominent of these princes are: Those who were interested in medicine and doctors, the princes of the Marwanid state, especially Prince Nasr al-Dawla Ahmad bin Marwan al-Kurdi, who cared for doctors and ordered the construction of Bimaristan in the center of his state.
