ABSTRACT In the year 1924, significant political developments unfolded in Egypt, marked by the establishment of the Egyptian Parliament with its two chambers (the House of Representatives and the Senate). This parliament played a substantial role in Egypt's foreign policy, particularly concerning Egyptian-British relations. The inception of these relations was characterized by negotiations between the two parties regarding Egypt's independence. Notable negotiations included those between Saad Zaghloul and MacDonald in 1924, Tharwat and Chamberlain in 1927-1928, Mohamed Mahmoud and Henderson in 1929, and Mustafa El-Nahhas and Henderson in 1930, culminating in the signing of the 1936 Treaty. With these considerations in mind, several questions arise. Was the Egyptian Parliament powerful during this period? To what extent did the decisions of the Egyptian parliamentary members in both chambers (the House of Representatives and the Senate) influence the political landscape in Egypt? Were Britain's pressures on the Parliament driven by concerns for Egyptian interests? Did Britain play any role in shaping the future of the Egyptian issue?
