Spatiotemporal Trends Analysis of Some Meteorological Parameters in Kurdistan Region of Iraq

2023-04-02
Climate extremes, such as heat waves, droughts, and extreme rainfall can lead to flooding, and harvest failures and consequently hover food safety worldwide. Improving our understanding of climate extremes can mitigate the worst impacts of climate change and extremes, so that, the spatial and temporal analysis of meteorological parameters are very important for climatic variability. The objective of this study is to determine whether climate change has caused spatio-temporal changes in some meteorological elements such as air temperature, rainfall, and relative humidity in Kurdistan Region-Iraq. The seasonal and annual mean data for 8 meteorological stations in the study area for the period (1992-2020) were analyzed to determine the significant trends and magnitudes of some meteorological parameters using non-parametric Mann-Kendall test and Sen's slope with the inverse distance weighting (IDW) interpolation and symbology method of ArcGIS.
