build a medical expert Database for breast cancer. A Database in Oracle was created and a program was written in MATLAB employing fuzzy logic, which was designed to formalize medical entities as fuzzy sets, and to formalize reasoning in rule based systems. This was applied to build a Fuzzy Inference System to process the relevant data from breast cancer cases in order to give a breast cancer risk prognosis which can be compared to that of an expert. MATLAB was connected with Oracle via an ODBC driver in order to extract data from the Database and to process them in the fuzzy application, and then the results were exported to the Database.
