Preparation and Studies of a Number of New Nickel ( II ) Complexes with Semicarbazon, Dithiocarbamate Ligands and Their Derivatives.

My MSc thesis includes the preparation and characterization of mumber of new nickel(II) complexes with mixed Iigands including benzi bis(thiosemicarbazone)-TSH; or benzil bis(semicarbazone)-SCH, and ammonium pytrolidene dithiocarbamate - Pyrdte or ammonium indoline dithiocarbamate - Indre or bis(pyrrolidene) thiorumdisulfur- Pyrtds. The resulted complexes have been characterized using elemental analysis by atomic absorption spectroscopy & by precipitation method, Molar conductance measurements, Magnetic susceptibilities, IR and Electronic spectra. The study suggests that the above ligands form ionic or neutral complexes having general formula [Ni(AH;)(L)X] or [N{AH;(L)X;] or [N:(AH,):(L),X,) or [Niz(pyrdtc);(TSH;)NO,JNO, in neutral medium ; Whereas, neutral complexes of the general formula [Ni(AHXL)) or (Ni(A)(L)) or (Ni;(AH);(L)] or [Niz(A):(L)] in basic medium, (where AH,- TSH; or SCH; ligand, AH-deprotonated (-1H) TSH; or SCH, ligand, A- deprotonated (-2H) TSH, or SCH2 ligand, L- the ligand Pyrdte or Indie or Pyrtds, X= Cl or NO, or CH,COO or SO, ,-1 or 2 or 4) in which the ligand act as neutral or anionic in neutral or basic medium, respectively.. Hexacoordinated mononuclear (monomer) complexes or dimeric complexes have been investgated by this study and having octahedral geometries.
