This workshop gives a general description of the tunnel and tunnelling techniques reviewed for possible use in the project. A summary of design, construction, cut and cover, drill and blast, bored tunnelling methods are also presented. One of the key factors in tunneling is the properties of the ground. Construction, stresses, safety, technical and economic risks, all is depending on those properties during excavation. Monitoring technologies, it is one of the basics that may help with the recognition of potential risks.
